Dr Stephanie Pappalardo was born in Pieta’ on 24 April 1972. Following her primary and secondary education at St Joseph School in Paola and Blata l-Bajda respectively, she continued her tertiary education at the University of Malta. She obtained the Diploma of Notary Public in 1995 and graduated Doctor of Laws in 1997. Other studies undertaken include an extensive part-time course on principles of management organised by the Malta Institute of Management.
Following her graduation, she worked for a brief period in the private sector. Dr Pappalardo started her career with the Public Service in 1999 with a posting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the European Union Directorate, she was, among other things, responsible for the screening of EU legislation on one of the most sensitive areas of the European Union acquis communautaire, namely Chapter 22 (Environment). Dr Pappalardo was also responsible for monitoring the timely implementation, often within very tight timeframes, of various EU-related commitments in this particular area. This entailed keeping ongoing communication with a number of key players involved, including a significant number of Government entities, the private sector, as well as NGO’s.
She was appointed to her present post of Director of the Land Registry, as well as Land Registrar, on 2 October 2003.
In her free time, Dr Pappalardo enjoys scuba-diving and is involved in voluntary work with abandoned animals.
